Anzali
This county is located on the north of Iran covering an area of 304.7 sq. km. and is bounded northwards to the Caspian Sea, southwards to Somesara County, and eastwards to Rasht and westwards to Rezvanshahr. Anzali County which is in a totally plain-like land, is located on the coastline of the Caspian Sea, has moderate and humid weather and has a very high level of rainfall with an average of 1892mm. the average humidity in the region is between 71% to 97percent. Part of the environment of this region is the sea (40 kilometers of coastlines) and another part is the valuable ecosystem of Anzali Lagoon. 27 important rivers go into this lagoon. The lagoon attracts thousands of Iranian and foreign tourists are known to be one of the well-known lagoons in the international arena regarding the vegetation, genetically variety, and species diversity. The surrounding environment of the lagoon is a very proper ecosystem for birds in the southern part of the Caspian Sea. Anzali includes one central district and two agglomerations, Chaharfarizeh and Licharaki Hassanroud, and 29 villages. According to the survey in 1375 it has a population of 133134 people. The name “Anzali” is known in most European cities due to its historical background. In old days Anzali was known as the “Gate to Europe” (due to its geographical conditions and cultural, political and economic exchanges with other countries has a very bright background and is root to many changes in the region). The occupation of the majority of the residents is fishing. They also work in the areas of agriculture, handicrafts and bamboo products. One of the precious products of this region is caviar, in the production of which Iran ranks the second. In the sea, coastline and the beautiful scenes of it, the Anzali Lagoon with its numerous shelters for the indigenous and emigrating birds, lilies and bamboo fields are the unique attractions of this county that is why 90 % of the passengers travelling to Gilan visit this county.
