Astaneh Ashrafiyeh
Astaneh Ashrafiyeh County as the greatest religious center in Gilan has some unique features. Some of them can be mentioned: the crossing of the Sepidroud River from the Bridge of Astaneh as a natural border, which divides the Gilan plain into two different territories. Two cities that have alternatively been the capital of the Gilan province are Lahijan in the east and Fouman in the west. The differences between these cities are not bound to the old political borders but Sepidroud is still a border that separates to dialects of Gilaki. The Gilaki of Rasht on the west and the Lahiji Gilaki on the east. And in the materialistic culture of the people on the sides of the river we will see visible differences. From the techniques of rice growing to the formation of rural houses amazing differences can be seen, and it seems unlikely that we can realize the differences just caused by the effects and factors of geography. The county of Astaneh Ashrafiyeh with coastal situation and plain situation is located 6 kilometers westwards from Lahijan and 25 kilometers eastwards from Rasht and is bounded to the Caspian Sea from north and Siyahkal County from south. The County has 2 districts, central district and Kiyashahr and 2 townships and 6 agglomerations. Geomorphologically, this county is located on the peak of the Sepidroud Delta and in the central plain of Gilan with an area of 42.8 sq. km. between two main points of high density. The name of this county has changed from “Kouchan” to Astaneye Ashrafiyeh due to the fact that the shrine of Seyyed Jalaledin Ashraf the brother of Imam AlReza is in this county. 600 thousand people visit this religious place every year. The population of this country according to the survey in 1385 is 108092. The economy of the region is so much dependent on agriculture that 58% of the jobs are in this area. It should also be mentioned that the crops in the region have a very high quality due to the fertile quality of the plains of Astaneh. Rice with an area of 23500 hectares of farms and peanut and tea are the main crops of the region. Silkworm cultivation is also one of the current activities in the region.
