Fouman
This county is bounded to the counties of Somesara and Masal from north, the county of Shaft from south and east, Ardebil province (Khalkhal County) and from southwest to the province of Zanjan (Tarom County). The county covers an area of 777.9 sq. km. Geomorphologically, Fouman has three main geographical sections, plans, mountainsides, and mountains. Fouman County includes two districts called Sardar-e Jangal and central. It also has 6 agglomerations: Alian, Sardar-e Jangal, Roudpish, Gasht, Gourabpass, Louleman, and 148 villages, 11 of which are vacant. According to the survey of 1375 the population of the county is 97400 people. The center of this city is the township of Fouman which has an amazing past and an old history. In the past the county was known as Darol Emareh. There are 2 stories about the root of the name “Fouman”. Most people earn their income working in the area of agriculture and this is the reason why Fouman is a center in rice cultivation. Silk worm cultivation is important as long as keeping animals and cultivating rice. Additionally tourism is also important is this county and is the second source of income after agriculture. Appropriate climate, Jungles and mountains covered with trees and many springs and holy shrines and historical and cultural places (Masouleh and Roudkhan castle) have made Fouman one of the tourism centers in Gilan and even in Iran.
