Shaft

This County is bounded from north-east to Rasht County, from south and south-east to Zanjan province and Roudbar County, and from west to the County of Fouman and Somesara County.  Shaft also includes plains and mountains. Khorramkesh, Emamzade Ebrahim and PainTouse are the maountainous sights and the village of Osmavandan and Shaft Township are the plains and the Siyahmazgi River passes the plains by. The climate like the rest of the province is mild and humid, but in mountainous areas it is not humid. In the summer these regions of very nice weather host many tourists. Shaft covers an area of 586.9 sq. km. and has two major districts called central and Ahmadsargourab, and four agglomerations called: Jirdeh, Molasara, Ahmadsargourab (Nasirmahallaeh) and Choubar. And also 94 villages, 3 of which are vacant.  It is worth mentioning that this County was separated from Fouman County in 1374 and its population according to the survey of 1385 is approximately 63694. Shaft is dependent on agriculture and farming and related industries economically. Rice is one of the crops of the region. Planting, poultry farming, honeybee farming, farming fish and sea creatures, and silkworm farming are the other current activities in the county. Production of nuts and seeds like horse chestnuts, vegetables and decorative flower and plants are also sources of income for the people living in the region.
